Settling Tea Mountain

Our Mountain

Located in Fengqing, Lincang, Yunnan – the hometown of Dian Hong (Yunnan, Black Tea) of the world. We have 50 acres of self-produced tea mountain in De Si Li, Mengyou, Fengqing County at an altitude of 2100 meters / 6890 Feet. Belonging to the basin of the Lancang river, with four seasons; spring, little to no summer, barely winter, and the average annual temperature of 10-20°C / 50-68°F.

The tea plantation in Sian has been cultivated by mother nature for the most part, it was only in 1990’s our family started managing the tea trees. The tea making season is generally in spring and autumn, although summer tea leaves are also available. However, taste of the summer tea leaves are a bit plain, and the appearance of the tea is not too pleasing compared to our spring and autumn leaves. This leads to us selecting majority of the tea leaves during spring and autumn, for production.

In 2008, we started to pick tea leaves and sell them commercially, and the feedback we have received so far, is exceptionally good. In order to meet our standards, the goal is “better with small in quantity, and premium in quality”. The transparency we hold of our leaf harvesting and production is also a key feature, we take pride in the fact that all the Pu’er tea and White tea sold from our mountain, are 100% hand-picked and handmade.

Tree & Leaf

Surrounded by peaks of other mountains and gorges, as well as dense fog all year round. Very little traffic or housing in this area, therefore the pollution levels are low.
All these unique natural conditions provide a warm and humid environment for the growth of our tea trees with
a unique acidic red soil, that is extremely high with organic content.
The superior natural environment breeds the excellent quality of big-leaf tea (大叶种). Naturally having a poor cold resistance ability, is what makes our mountain environment super essential for the big-leaf tea tree.

Our tea trees range from 70-90 years of age, all Yunnan big-leaf arbor type tea trees. The trunks of our trees are sturdy, the leaves are fat and dark in color, the buds are thick and hairy, which provides good protection for the leaves, therefore the tea polyphenol content is very high.

Settling Teas

Pu'er

Tastes fresh and sweet with an average level of astringency. Upon our first harvest in 2008 we hired a professional tea taster amongst other professionals, the results were outstanding. A memorable comment we received was as follows: (像蜂蜜水一样) roughly translated, meaning “it tastes as Honey water like”. We took this comment to heart and use it to describe our Pu’er tea (Honey Water), with increasing interests raising rapidly each year. What stands out in this tea is its biggest characteristic: smooth and sweet.

White

The taste of our Settling Moonlight a.k.a Settling White is rich, warm and light with a slight similar taste to our Pu’er tea (Honey Water). White tea is the second type of tea that we produce. “Settling Moonlight”, the name we gave our white tea comes from the actual harvesting time and production process. This is a delicate type of leaf that is not allowed under any circumstances to face direct sunlight, from harvesting to the final stage. During daytimes, it must be dried in the shade and after sunset dried at direct moonlight. The white tea also comes with a unique look and aroma, light silver and dark are the colors just as the moon, when it’s not fully lit, front side being light silver and the back side dark. Aroma levels are distinctively stronger than that of Pu’er type leaves.
