Made from Yunnan large-leaf tea in Fengqing, Lincang.
This “The Sun Dried” 2022, unlike other black teas, has a different tea-making process, similar to that of some Pu’er type teas (like our Honey Water or Linda). It is left to dry in the sun for the final stage.
Traditional Dian Hong has to be dried at a high-temperature roast after the fresh leaves are withered and fermented to show its rich and high aroma. Due to that, traditional black tea is best to drink within 2 years of its production date, as it will gradually lose its strong aroma, however, the taste remains the same. On the other hand, people are inspired by the process of Pu’er tea-making, which can maintain the aroma and let time do its magic.
From a tasting perspective, Sun Dried is gentler and less inflammatory than regular Dian Hong teas. This tea does not use the traditional roasting method to enhance the flavor; it’s all-natural. It has a mild, sweet, floral, and refreshing taste with a very comfortable hui gan.
This is a must-try if you are into Pu’er and Black tea. It is suitable to drink whenever, even before sleep, as it has been fermented and won’t cause sleeplessness.
Note: All our black teas are freshly harvested in spring or autumn and sold yearly—never from last year’s stock. (See product description for harvest season.)
